Rise in Rivers, School Closure – 5.7.19

Southeast Montgomery County received heavy rain this afternoon causing street flooding and some water to enter a few buildings and homes. This flooding is due to downpours that dropped between 9-11 inches of rain in the same area.

Area Rivers will be receiving this runoff as we have a short lull in rain tonight. Rises in the West Fork of the San Jacinto near Humble and the East Fork of the San Jacinto near New Caney should be expected.

Currently the West Fork of the San Jacinto near Humble is forecast to crest at moderate flood stage tonight at 10pm at 51.2 feet.
The East Fork of the San Jacinto near New Caney is forecast to crest at moderate flood stage tonight at 10pm at 62.3 feet.

Persons are urged to stay away from the river until water levels recede.
Motorists should avoid any water covered roads and find an alternate route.

New Caney ISD will be closed tomorrow 5/8/19.
