Red Cross Shelter Training

Montgomery County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, in conjunction with the American Red Cross, is offering Shelter Operations Training. This training is designed to prepare community volunteers to assist with running emergency shelters during disasters. Shelter Operations training prepares volunteers to effectively and sensitively manage shelter operations as a team while meeting the needs of people displaced as a result of a disaster. The course provides participants with an opportunity to apply the knowledge, skills and abilities required to operate a successful shelter by including a hands-on shelter simulation at the end of the class.

Participants will be required to attend a Shelter Meeting, Exercise, or Training at least twice a year after that to remain active and up to date
