1 Year Anniversary of the Montgomery County Tax Day Floods

Monday – April 17, 2017 1 Year Anniversary of the Montgomery County Tax Day Floods Tomorrow marks the 1 year anniversary of the Tax Day floods in Montgomery County. In April, some areas of the county received up to 15” of rainfall over a 4 day period causing widespread flooding.  Fire, law enforcement, and EMS worked tirelessly to remove families from homes and vehicles in flooded areas. From the onset of rain more than 450 water rescues took place. By the third day of rain, most of the rivers and creeks had crested and we had over 600 homes with water damage. This week we will be posting flood safety information on our website www.mctxoem.org, Facebook page, and Twitter.  Please take time now to start preparing for hurricane season and future severe weather incidents. The question is not whether it will occur, but when. Shouldn’t we all be prepared?
